Consumer Freebies For New Parents

"Nothing in this life is free!" This is the sentiment that most of us ascribe to. These days when we come across an offer that sounds too good to be true, it usually is! However, as of late, product manufacturers and retailers have begun to throw in a few free items with many standard purchases. This is due in part to the lasting impression such seeming generosity makes. Store owners realize that there is no better way to assure "repeat business" of a customer than to toss in a few free bonus items. The customer is usually impressed enough to tell a few friends and family members or possibly make a direct recommendation of the store or product itself. What a great concept! The consumer is happy, the store owner is happy, and if all goes as planned a growing customer base is achieved. The problem however, presents itself in the form of overhead cost. For many store owners, the idea of giving away free items is sure to make their accountants cringe. Therefore, it is not always possible to give away free goodies with standard purchases.

One location where this presents little or no overhead problem, is within the online community of retailers. Online retailers have the distinct advantage of being able to offer free goodies with purchase orfree shipping, etc. Why is this so? This is because online retailers often times have very little overhead cost. They are many times small business owners who work out of their homes and carry a limited amount of inventory- thus keeping their overhead costs down. These savings are usually passed onto the customer in the form of free goodies with purchase or free shipping on a pre-determined order minimum.

An area where free items are given out liberally, is in the designer diaper bag industry. With many diaper bag designers competing feverishly for trend status, they have begun to include a whole host of extras at no additional cost, with a standard purchase of a designer diaper bag. From the viewpoint of the consumer, this is often times the perk that tips the balance in a particular designers favor. You will find diaper bag designers offering such items as a matching changing pad, insulated bottle holder, or cell phone purse. These extra freebies, if purchased by themselves, would run a lot more than the standard price of the diaper bag alone. The targeted consumers,mothers in general, have responded to such offers with delight and as a result, online retailers are booming with business because of this beneficial practice.

One such industry where this practice seems to be flourishing is the scrapbooking industry. Many scrapbook retailers are exclusively web-based operations. They may offer a wide range of scrapbooking products to choose from. Some even offer pre-assembled "kit of the month" clubs that one can join for a monthly fee. Because new scrapbooking and memory book products emerge daily, the online retailer will oftentimes throw in a few free samples of upcoming products to wet the consumers appetite for the kit that will be assembled shortly. One such retailer throws in a free $15 coupon for photo developing with every purchase. This is a smart move indeed because the consumer who uses this coupon will usually go on to purchase additional scrapbooking supplies to use with their freshly developed photographs. When given a choice, this customer will return again and again simply to receive the next $15 coupon. This creates a cycle that is both beneficial to the consumer and retailer.

Receiving free items when making a standard purchase is always a good thing. However, not all store owners will be in a position to make such offers. From a consumer standpoint, you will expose yourself to the most opportunities to receive such offers if you do your shopping and make your purchases online. Online boutiques appreciate greatly the feedback they receive from such great customer relations and are therefore willing and able to extend themselves in this way. Bottom line, whenever possible, be sure to browse your online options thoroughly. By doing so, you are very likely to receive some sort of free goodie with your next standard purchase.
